I was there when you needed me Everytime that you called on me I thought you was the perfect woman for me Cuz loving you was so damn easy Baby you had me paralyzed I watched you change right before my eyes Now I wonder was it all just lies Or just the way that you manipulize So dontcha come running, dontcha come running Dontcha come running back to me You got the best of me So dontcha come running to me Dontcha come running, dontcha come running Dontcha come running back to me I tried so hard to set you free So dontcha come running back to me I wrote love songs for you Quick with a joke whenever you was blue I bought you wine baby, chocolate too I took my time when I made love to you When I saw you coming I should have ducked But I let you hit me like I Mack truck You rolled your dice babe, you pressed your luck So look at you sugar cuz now you stuck So dontcha come running, dontcha come running Dontcha come running back to me You got the best of me So dontcha come running to me Dontcha come running, dontcha come running Dontcha come running back to me I tried so hard to set you free So dontcha come running back to me So babe when things they fall apart And you're the owner of a lonely heart Life makes a turn you gotta make a new start Don't look to me to play that part Baby you had me hypnotized But I watched you change right before my eyes Now I wonder was it all just lies Or just the way that you manipulize So dontcha come running, dontcha come running Dontcha come running back to me You got the best of me So dontcha come running to me Dontcha come running, dontcha come running Dontcha come running back to me I tried so hard to set you free So dontcha come running back to me

She was born in April It's where she got her name It could have been September I would have loved her just the same She had an old soul You could see it in her eyes You could hear it when she laughed And feel it when she cried Chorus I could feel the storm coming The dark clouds rolling in The thunder shook my windowpane Cuz April brings the showers But I love the rain I used to go see her In Acadian We'd walk on moonlit bayous Arm in arm, hand in hand Things were so simple We had the world to ourself Never thought she'd end up In the arms of someone else Repeat chorus Sometimes I still see her Back home in New Orleans An awkward smile, I look away Cuz she's a stranger now to me Her eyes still sparkle And her hair's still soft and brown But there is no connection now All she can do is look down Repeat chorus I wonder if she still gets it That pounding in her chest Did she find her happiness Or just choose the path that was easiest But I still love her Probably will til my dying day You never can forget the ones Who take your breath away Repeat chorus Her memory, it still haunts me Like the ghosts of Evangeline Whoever said it gets easier with time, they were lying Cuz some wounds don't heal They just leave a scar And this one's on my soul Baby, this one is on my heart Repeat chorus

It's getting late, my mind is weary And Ive had a little too much to drink And baby Im getting a little worried That I might not be as strong as I think The way your eyes pierced through the darkness You know you got me thinking twice Ive got all the love that I can handle But one night with you sure would be nice You take your scarf, wrap it around me Pull your body up next to mine Your lips touched me, when you whispered And I knew it was no accident this time The way your eyes, pierced through the smoke I just might roll the dice Ive got all the love that I can handle But one night with you sure would be nice I got a little angel over my shoulder Telling me I should head on home Cuz I can't trust your intentions Don't even know if I can trust my own The way your eyes, bounced off the candles I just might pay the price Ive got all the love that I can handle But one night with you sure would be nice I've had so many chances at these late night dances But I always found a way to walk away But baby there's something, something about you That's turning my black and whites to gray The way your eyes pierced through the darkness You got me thinking twice Cuz I got all the love that I can handle But one night with you sure would be nice It's getting late, my mind is weary And Ive had a little too much to drink And baby Im getting a little worried That I might not be as strong as I think The way your eyes pierced through the darkness You know you got me thinking twice Ive got all the love that I can handle But one night with you sure would be nice

It took two days to get to Telluride Two days, I almost died Had to get through Texas and New Mexico But I was spun out on the icy road It was pouring rain when I left New Orleans By Baton Rouge it had turned to sleet In Dallas ice covered over the road And I sure wish I would have turned back home There aint nothing but broken dreams Between Wichita Falls and Abilene Trust me baby I know what I mean I've logged them miles, I've seen that scene A piston fires a lonely spark Over the desert, out in the dark The moon presides over the canyon's roar And I aint ever coming back here no more The clock is ticking it's getting late So flip the switch on that big iron gate Gun the engine to pick up the slack Cuz that one headlight's gonna lead me back To I-40, to Albuquerque Head North to Durango baby, I'll be free If everything works out just right By the morning light I'll be in Telluride It took two days to get to Telluride Two days, I almost died Had to get through Texas and New Mexico But a hundred years is a long way to go.

I can hear your voice in the wind And I can taste your lips in the air And I can feel the warmth of the Sun Just like if you were standing here But baby you're gone And I don't know where The city feels empty, baby this town feels empty When you're not here This fog feels like your breath on my neck This heavy San Francisco air Its lovely little moments like this I'd always dreamed you'd be right here But baby you're gone And I don't know where The city feels empty, baby this town feels empty When you're not here You could be a block from my house And I could be half a world away But I can't seem to lose your face In every single pretty thing I see But baby you're gone And I don't know where The city feels empty, baby this town feels empty When you're not here
